“Los Girasoles” is an apartment in Benalmádena – a seaside town in the heart of Costa del Sol, the worldwide known sun-soaked region of Spain.
The property is located only 300 meters from the Mediterranean Sea (Playa del Arroyo de la Miel and Playa de Bil Bil), in a white Andalusian style building surrounded by a beautifully maintained garden with restricted secure access – a perfect setting for a family holiday.
Two swimming pools are available at the residents’ disposal (*note the second pool is open only throughout the summer, i.e., between 15th June and 15th September).
The apartment is placed on the first floor with a convenient lift access. It is air-conditioned and consists of two bedrooms (master bedroom with a double bed and the second with twin beds), and a living room (with a convertible sofa bed) that opens to a private balcony. The kitchen is self-catering ready (incl. the following: fridge, mini oven & grill, hob, microwave, toaster, kettle, and extensive cooking utensils), plus a washing machine. The bathroom has a walk-in shower and a hairdryer. Free WiFi, a smart TV in the living room and security safe are also provided.
All amenities are at hand in the nearest vicinity – the Evita supermarket stocking English products being the closest, the Mercadona supermarket only 200 meters away, not to mention many restaurants, bars, shops that are in walking distance.
The journey from the Málaga Airport takes less than half an hour by car (19 km), or alternatively it is also accessible by train (1.3 km from Arroyo de la Miel train station with a direct connection to both the airport and the centre of Málaga).
The ‘Los Girasoles’ apartment is located in the heart of Benalmádena, within a walking distance from many local atractions and shops. We wholeheartedly recommend exploring the area on foot. For further ventures, bus stops in several directions are just 200 – 300 meters away.
An Uber or a taxi are also easily accessible. Last but not least, the Arroyo de la Miel train station is less than a mile walk (under 20 minutes). Frequent trains will take you to Málaga centre or the airport in ca. 20 minutes.
Playa Arroyo de la Miel is a 600-metre-long beach. Being a very popular destination due to its central location and accessibility, it still offers plenty of space with its average width of 40 metres. Together with Fuente de la Salud, Torrebermeja-Santa Ana and Bil Bil-Los Melilleros beaches, it is awarded with `Q` for Spanish Tourist Quality certificate and the Blue Flag.
The Bil-Bil Castle is one of Benalmádena’s most emblematic architectural structures. It was built in 1927 in the Moorish architectural style to look like a defensive fortress. Nowadays the building belongs to the local municipal authorities and became a visiting destination with its beautiful central courtyard.
Selwo Marina is a sea life park that is home to many plant and animal species from all over the world, including dolphins, penguins, sealions, exotic birds, crocodiles, snakes, piranhas, anacondas, sea rays, and many more. The park puts on dolphin shows and a number of different displays, and offers opportunities to interact with different species. There is also an ice island inhabited by penguins where they can be watched undisturbed as they are waddling, eating and swimming in the freezing water.
El Parque de la Paloma is one of the most beautiful parks on the Costa del Sol. Located in the centre of Benalmádena, it is a perfect space to enjoy a fantastic day out relaxing with the family or a group of friends. It is also an excellent place for various sports, especially jogging. The park is home to many free-roaming animals such as rabbits, chickens, ducks, and parrots. Variety of attractions include bars and terraces, picnic areas, bike hire services, and a spectacular lake with ducks.
Benalmádena cable car will transport you through the skies for 5,565m from Arroyo de la Miel to the peak of Sierra de Mijas. Sitting 700m above sea level, Monte Calamorro is home to an expansive network of hiking and cycling trails that will lead you deep into the landscapes of the province of Málaga. The summit of the mountain offers beautiful vistas over the province which on a clear day extend as far as the African continent.
Benalmádena Puerto Marina rates high amongst the best in the world, and unsurprisingly it has repeatedly won the ‘Best Marina in the World’ award. With 1,100 moorings for boats of all nationalities and up to 6 meters long, the Benalmádena Port is one of the Costa del Sol’s busiest centres by day and beyond – the nightlife carries on in sophisticated bars and clubs.
